Science units are taught within a two-week block with six units over the year.  Lessons take place on three afternoons each week ie. six lessons per unit.

The technical terms Biology, Chemistry and Physics – the three areas within Science – are referred to with the children. Within each unit the children are given the opportunity to work scientifically and write up their predictions and hypotheses. Children are taught to communicate scientifically and ask questions.

Within all units, there is a focus on vocabulary. Vocabulary is displayed on the classroom working wall and is referred to by staff and children throughout each unit.
